    Office Inspiration

At times we can get carried away with what we want in our home office. Whether it’s tons of storage or inspiring photo’s all over the wall, it can get a little overwhelming. A simple office space leaves your mind clutter free and ready to create a new masterpiece.
These pendants are amazing! Love the light in the space too..incredible! (Remodelista's Francesca Connolly's Home - Brooklyn Interior Design):

If you are a naturally creative person, you know that most times you don’t need much to be inspired! Sometimes it’s the blank wall that makes our mind imagine what should be there so we can create it.

Maybe the room itself doesn’t even matter. Maybe your view outside the window is what you need to get your brain moving.
Stick to the basic necessities. A chair, a table, a plant, a light, and a calendar may be all you really need.

    Home Office Inspiration

Some times we all need a little inspiration – and for me, that couldn’t be more true. I’ve been feeling particularly unmotivated and I can’t really put my finger on why.  When the weather is beautiful all I want to do is be outside, so that’s understandable, but otherwise, I’m not sure where my malaise is coming from.
Hopefully you’re not in the same boat, but regardless I hope you enjoy these beautiful home offices!

  • Tips for working from home!

    Tips for working from home!

    Working from Home

A lot of people ask me how I handle working from home. As you can imagine, it can be very distracting if you aren’t prepared for it! With house chores looking right at you, all your favorite things to do during your down time within eye sight, and no one checking on you to see what you’ve gotten done, it can be a bit overwhelming. Here’s a few tricks I use to stay on track:

    1. Have a dedicated work space.

Even if you are sharing the room with another space, dedicate a wall or a section of it to your work space. You need to have a defined area so when you “step into it” you can be in the work mode and not “see” all the distractions around you.

    2. Get dressed and create a morning routine!

You don’t have to be in fashion, in style, or dressed to the T, but taking a shower and getting out of your jamies can seriously motivating! Also sticking with a morning routine can make you feel ready and prepared for the day.
    3. Set dedicated work hours, and give yourself a real lunch break!

Working off hours can really hurt your body and your routine of working. Overworking can also wear you down and make you less effective at what you are actually doing. Set dedicated work hours and be sure to give yourself a break, just like you would at any out of home job!
    4. Use those extra hours wisely!

If you are like me, clutter and unorganized mess can be seriously distracting. Use the time you’d be commuting during an out of home job to do the cleaning around the house! Get everything set so the next morning is dedicated to your routine and work load.
    5. Have fun with your office space!

Decorate it nicely, keep it organized, and have fun with it! After all, you will be spending most of your time at home here. Why not love it?

  • Functional over frills.

    Functional over frills.

When you talking about home decor some would assume that it’s more about the fun of decorating than the functionality. That is where I disagree. Decorating isn’t all about the frills, its about function too.
     :
There’s no point in spending money on a room just to decorate it without considering how it’s going to function and if it’s going to need the need of the person using the space.

When a room gets overwhelming to me, the first thing I do is take a few things out. Sometimes simply clearing the space can refresh me.
That can happen with more than just decor items. Sometimes colors and textures can be overwhelming too and just taking one piece out can help you find that balance.
