  • Away from Home Office

    Away from Home Office

Since I work from home, I tend to love posting pictures of inspiration for home offices. A few of my friends have rented space or work in a shared office setting and were struggling with ideas to make it feel more like home!
Hang a piece of gridded wire above your desk to keep pictures and inspiration visible.:

So what’s my advice for making it feel more like home? Find great additions that aren’t permanent that create the ambiance of home. Pictures and desk accessories are an easy budget friendly addition.
    Estacoes de trabalho fantasticos:
If you can add some plants and a couch. Bring home to you! An area rug, a lamp, pretty much anything can make you feel more at home.
Think outside the box! Get a desk that suits you instead of just using something more traditional or what the office already has. Bringing small pieces of furniture of your own for shelving, storage, or just simply decoration can make it unique to you.
Work it Out: Using Feng Shui in the Office Because we spend so many hours at the office, it’s important to incorporate feng shui health tips (not just productivity tips) into the office layout and décor. Here are some other ideas to complete your successful feng shui office space.:

If you are bound to what’s available, get away from the wall! Put your desk in the center of the room so you don’t feel like you are boxed in.
Make it inviting! Add some curtains, a blanket, a throw pillow! Anything to give the room some comfort and charm.
What would you do if you had your own office space away from home?
  • An Extra Rug

    An Extra Rug

The cold weather creeps in this time of year and the beautiful hardwood and tile floors make walking around barefoot almost impossible!
This is when my extra rugs come out! For most season, I tend to leave the gorgeous hardwood floors uncovered and enjoy how beautiful view but this time of year, my rugs make an appearance!
Even layering rugs can give you that extra comfort and coziness you are looking for!
My personal favorite place to add a rug is the laundry room! It may be the one place we all don’t want to spend our time, but the warm dryer and a nice warm rug underneath my feet aren’t so bad in the winter!
    This laundry room is gorgeous.:

    Comfortable Casual Spaces

Today I just feel like being comfy and cozy and want my home to feel the same way! Here’s some inspiration for making your home feel a little more comfy:
Blankets and pillows are a must for me!
Less clutter and more warmth. Natural light, fresh flowers, and something you love. Keep it simple.
This picturesque porch was made for glasses of iced tea and shooting the breeze on summer evenings. Black rockers echo the home's dark trim and connote throwback comfort in a slightly more modern silhouette, amplified by ikat pillows in black and white.:

Even your outdoor space can feel comfortable! Make it a place you’d love to curl up and watch the world go by.
It might seem difficult to make a formal dining room comfy but it can be done. It can be as simple as a rug on the to give it that soft texture.
If the kitchen is your sanctuary, let it be! Make room for you where you are the most comfortable.

  • Adding the finishing touches to our newly renovated space

Adding the finishing touches to our newly renovated space

Our house is almost done. so close…. and baby is due in 3 weeks.  Hubby has been working tirelessly for four months now to make our house our home.  I don’t even begin to know how to thank him!  And now the fun part begins – decorating! While we do have many pieces we are going to keep, there are some things we need.  I’ve been scouring flash sale sites to try and get good stuff at a good price, but you have to check often and move fast – which can be tough if you’re undecided.  Here’s what I’ve found today that would look gorgeous in our space:

Now that we have a breakfast bar – we need stools.  These would be a great contrast to our white upholstered dining chairs.

We just bought a gorgeous silvery taupe sectional, and this color would be so great with it!

Two large baskets are needed by both doors for shoes.  We don’t have room for any entry way furniture like a shoe cabinet, and I will never train hubby to put his shoes in the closet.
3 items above were all found at Joss & Main

A lush, textured carpet for our master bedroom.

Throw pillow with a little punch for our new sofa.
These 3 items found on Gilt.

  • A little texture can go a long way!

A little texture can go a long way!

You may hear designers talk about texture as one aspect that really makes or breaks a room. Visual texture, when done correctly, can transform a simple room into a unique eye catching space.
The brick walls, with wood floors, a comfy couch, and a woven rug all give you different textures that combined well together. Each one touches your senses in a different way but when brought together can create a truly unique feel.
Mixing wood, tile, and granite really makes this room feel that nostalgic sense of home with a modern twist of luxury.
There’s something so unique about wood grain and mixing that with painted cabinets, glass, and stone really makes each item stand out!
Texture doesn’t always have to come from major home upgrades. It can be as simple as adding wood to an already great cabinet and pairing it with wicker baskets and a fun rug.
How do you use texture in your home?
  • The benefits of a great rug!

The benefits of a great rug!

There are so many benefits to a great rug.
It adds a layer to your decor. Some of us love layers!
They reduce the noise in the room. Rugs absorb noise so your room won’t echo as much.
It’s a great way to add color to a neutral room!

  • Inspiring Eat-In Kitchens

Supposedly eat-in kitchens are back, though I never knew they left. I have just never had a kitchen large enough for a table other than a small barista table. I really like the idea of an eat-in kitchen to get the family together and away from the TV though.  Seems like it would be cozier than eating in the dining room!

I love one side being a booth or a bench – a great option for squirmy kids.
