I love this swing and the cozy tartan blanket. I’d go out there in the morning with my coffee and baby son and we’d read.

How pretty is this entrance with the pumpkins and cornstalks?
The crows add a nod to the spooky season.

I love carved pumpkins I just never have the time.  These pumpkins as found on Southern Living are more sweet than scary.

I like the subtlety of this one.  The mirror and the crows makes me think of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
How clever is this coat rack of witches hats and brooms?

Love the wreath, the little black cameo pumpkins, and the book cover.

Make it Scary, Easily: cute and quick Halloween craft ideas from Sweet Paul

I love Sweet Paul, and these ideas are so simple but still dramatic. I might even try them and I am the laziest Holiday decorator ever. Seriously – I don’t vacuum the corners of my ceiling for a month and voila – spooky spider webs as my Halloween decorations.

Paint a funkin or pumpkin in a very matte black paint.

To make these spooky skeleton cards, Paul just:

1.bought a bunch of these old photographs at a flea market.
2.Printed out the skulls from online, google old skulls.
3.Cut them out and simply glued them on top of their faces.

Make a scary vignette – the entry or foyer table is a great place to do this. Paul says “By painting some objects in a flat paint they become all of a sudden really spooky. The candlestick is painted, www.momastore.org and the bottle has dripping paint on the inside.”

Another great option for the entry way or foyer.. Paul says:  1.Simply trace the lathers to a fabric and sew with white embroidery thread. 2.Frame in old frames and hang.

Simple but beautiful Thanksgiving decorating ideas…

I’m going to my parents for Thanksgiving this year, so aside from a few ornamental gourds and pumpkins I haven’t done much Thanksgiving decorating. But if I was hosting this year I’d definitely being making some of these ideas my own…

For a more modern spin on a harvest theme, paint some leftover Halloween pumpkins white and use them on your Thanksgiving table.

Use some autumn colored leaves in place of these green ones if in your climate they’re no longer green.  You could also try pine branches or just interesting bare branches.

We’re used to seeing a lot of dark and earthy tones in Thanksgiving decor, but I actually like these fresh, light spaces. See the little pumpkins hanging from natural-fiber rope in the back?

Halloween inspired interiors -great ideas and inspiration

Because I haven’t lived anywhere with any real storage yet, I don’t really have much in the way of decor. I still like to look at holiday homes though..and I think the ones below are all completely doable decorations!

I don’t know how safe it is to put candles on the floor.  Either go the flameless route, or make sure there are no kids/pets that could knock them over.
