    Gifts for New Homeowners

We always talk about great ways to add a touch of your personality into a home, but what if you are trying to give a gift to a new homeowner? Most homeowners would prefer a gift card since it takes time to move in and figure out what you need. But sometimes, you want to give more than a gift card. Here are a few ideas where it’s hard to go wrong!
    gold full length mirror:
A mirror is a great idea that’s hard to go wrong. Wall art may be harder to pick out because it’s very personal, but a mirror can simply be stunning without much effort.
    Fiddle Leaf Fig: http://www.stylemepretty.com/living/2015/04/07/10-indoor-plants-you-cant-kill/:
Larger plants can be a luxury for some new homeowners since they are already budgeting in other things for the home.
You can’t go wrong with a basic throw blanket! This could be used in multiple rooms and if you pick a neutral color, it will mix and match with almost anything!
Ikea Vittsjo Table with Coffee Table Books:
If you are a little more familiar with their style, you can give them the perfect nick knacks to fill in those spaces they might not have gotten too, like bookshelves, coffee tables and more!
Curb Appeal DIY Details - Nesting With Grace:
While most gift givers will be thinking about the inside, don’t forget about the outside too! Curb appeal items can be a great addition.

  • Away from Home Office

    Away from Home Office

Since I work from home, I tend to love posting pictures of inspiration for home offices. A few of my friends have rented space or work in a shared office setting and were struggling with ideas to make it feel more like home!
Hang a piece of gridded wire above your desk to keep pictures and inspiration visible.:

So what’s my advice for making it feel more like home? Find great additions that aren’t permanent that create the ambiance of home. Pictures and desk accessories are an easy budget friendly addition.
    Estacoes de trabalho fantasticos:
If you can add some plants and a couch. Bring home to you! An area rug, a lamp, pretty much anything can make you feel more at home.
Think outside the box! Get a desk that suits you instead of just using something more traditional or what the office already has. Bringing small pieces of furniture of your own for shelving, storage, or just simply decoration can make it unique to you.
Work it Out: Using Feng Shui in the Office Because we spend so many hours at the office, it’s important to incorporate feng shui health tips (not just productivity tips) into the office layout and décor. Here are some other ideas to complete your successful feng shui office space.:

If you are bound to what’s available, get away from the wall! Put your desk in the center of the room so you don’t feel like you are boxed in.
Make it inviting! Add some curtains, a blanket, a throw pillow! Anything to give the room some comfort and charm.
What would you do if you had your own office space away from home?

  • Filling in Spaces

    Filling in Spaces

When decorating a home, sometimes there’s a wall that just stumps you. It’s either an awkward size, a really large wall, a corner, or just a space you’d like to give a little more character. Either way, there are a few tricks I use to fill up a space that needs some love:

You can never go wrong with a large wall print, a plant, and a console. Extra storage and something pretty to look at it are my first attempt at filling an empty wall.

Corner’s can be more difficult! A collage of pictures is a great idea, a ladder with blankets, a corner table with a plant, or maybe even a beautiful basket could be a great solution to a corner problem.
For an entry way, I love a bench seat where you can sit down and take off your shoes, and there are some great ways to fill up a wall with DIY wall art that won’t break the bank!
I love the look of shelving as a wall filler on your way or in a kitchen. Using things you already have around the house and fresh flowers is a great filler.

Decorating with plants and house plant inspiration

With the sun shining in through the window and the spring bringing beautiful flowers, I’ve decided to share some great ideas to enjoy some of that outdoor lifestyle inside with your home decor.  I don’t have great luck with plants – easy care ones I even tend to kill – snake plant, etc…while more delicate ones I somehow manage to keep alive.  Still, I love the way they look (when they are healthy)  and I love the air filtering benefits of plants.

Mix it in with the decor you already have by choosing the pot or container with the same care you would any other piece of decor.

Trees are a great way to soften a corner…

    Or just for adding impact.

I love terrariums, and they are a great way to start small if you aren’t sure or you don’t feel like you have the green thumb. A little can go a long way and some of these are seriously adorable!

I also love the look of plants – potted or hanging, in the bathroom.
