Just beautiful rooms to start your week off right

No specific topic today, just beautiful rooms to inspire this rather gloomy morning (at least here in MD).  Granted, it’s also not Monday, but I also wasn’t particularly productive yesterday.  So, without further ado, I bring you some interior design eye candy and inspiration.

    white kitchen with natural light

What a great kitchen to wake up to every morning.  The natural light and open concept is so nice.  The glass front cabinets mimic the windows.

    elegant bedroom with tufted headboard

This bedroom in silver and purple is all about the elegance.  Of course, what is more elegant than a purple velvet tufted headboard?

    white room with arm chair

This is more of an art shot but the white and gray, wainscoting, and architectural details are really stunning.

    breakfast nook with windows

A humble but cheerful breakfast nook looks like such an ideal way to start the morning.  What I wouldn’t do for a little greenery out the window these days!

Staircase with console and gallery wall

The blue Chinese stools and green velvet couch add elegance through jewel tones to the staircase. I like the gallery wall with tiny pictures too.

    Stylish and Colorful Interiors

The temperatures here in Maryland might be dropping, but the sun is shining!  Even though I tend to go for more subdued colors in my home’s palette, I do like to interject little pops of color to add some cheer and energy to the room.

This room is very traditional in forms and lines, but gets cheeky with color.

Colorful doesn’t have to be bohemian or eclectic, it can also be crisp and tailored.  This is a room in Ham Yard Hotel in London

Style the perfect bed for Fall

Now that the temperatures are dropping (*tear), it means I’ve been pulling out heavier blankets for warmth during the cool nights.  I thought it would be a good time to dig up some inspiration for dressing your bed for fall.

Just because you’re piling on layers doesn’t meed your be can’t be tailored.  Go for crisp sheets and graphic patterns.

I like the mix of elegance from the velvet stools and headboard mixed with the preppier pattern and color of the pillows.

Folding over your flat sheet, topping it with a thin quilt, and then topping it with a warm duvet is a great way to have the warmth you need but ability to cool off a bit if you need to.

Good bones in this bedroom and bold graphic bedding is the perfect combination in this black and white bedroom.

Lots of pattern in pretty shades of blue make even this small bedroom welcoming.

Even a modern black and white bedroom can look cozy with high contrast bedding.

  • Beautiful rooms that are eclectic, artisan, and bohemian

Beautiful rooms that are eclectic, artisan, and bohemian

I know we see this look around a lot now, but I can’t help it – I love it.  White kitchen, oriental rug, and clean hardware.  Jealous.

I think this would make a great guest room.  The amazing plank ceiling, antique bed, and pretty textiles hanging from the ceiling.

How fantastic are the bones of this room?  From the moldings to the amazing tile floors it looks like a work of art!

Love all the textures and objects that  look like they were found on fun adventures.

What a cool space to spend rainy afternoon reading.  I think this is actually a girl’s room though!

Another room with amazing bones.  One day I hope to have a home with windows like that!

    The Best Master Bedrooms

    Beautiful Master Bedroom Inspiration

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week.  I think I’ve been fighting off a cold as I’ve been so tired it feels like I’ve taken one too many Benadryl. So what better room to honor than the master bedroom, a place that should be for relaxation, rest, and SLEEP.

As always love the neutral walls and white bedding with pops of colors from the royal blue accent pillows.  Those sconces in the headboard are amazing too!

So Parisian, so chic.  This master bedroom has a feminine and glamorous appeal.  The mirror and the wood headboard are my favorite part of this room.

LOVE layering textures, especially when a bedroom is monochromatic or neutral.  What do you think of the diagnolly placed rug?

So sweet!  A real life bedroom that is warm and inviting.

Nate Berkus: His NYC Greenwich Village Penthouse

Nate Berkus just sold his chic NYC penthouse for $10 Million

If you stay up to date with home decor news you probably already know that Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent sold their NYC penthouse apartment in Greenwich village recently.  I figured it was therefore a good time to revisit since it’s soon to be packed up and vacated!

The foyer definitely has cool and refreshing mediterranean feel.

The apartment is prewar, so you get lots of amazing moulding and architectural details.

     Cute family!

I’m sure you’ve seen their kitchen around the blogosphere.  The glossy black cabinets, amazing windows and herringbone floors are amazing.

I adore all of the build-in shelving!

Sweet baby Poppy’s nursery. It certainly looks glamorous!

Poppy’s play room.  The built-in bench looks like a cozy place to play.

The master bathroom manages to be glamorous with the stone backsplash and rustic with the hardwood floors.

Nate’s trademark eclectic and global style runs throughout the apartment.

    OMG this walk in closet.

  • An elegant bohemian loft

    An elegant bohemian loft

A stylish and sophisticated loft in Philadelphia

Elegant and bohemian aren’t normally two styles you necessarily see together, but done right they make quite the beautiful pair!  This loft is the work of Design Manifest, and isn’t new to the blogosphere, but worth a revisit! All photos are from Design Manifest.

Stark white walls are the canvas, but you’ll find ample pops of pink, blue and black as accent colors.

Amazing light and a lot of seating – hard for this loft not to look friendly

I love that the home is full of what look like travel souvenirs.

Even the bookcase is full of pops of color.

Blue,  pink, red and black create quite a punch on this accent wall.  There is also a chinoiserie theme throughout.

I really like the suzani tablecloth.

A small wall is painted black to designate a bar area.

The bedroom is still colorful but in more muted tones.

What do you think of this modern bohemian loft?

  • Bold, colorful and eclectic interior design

Bold, colorful and eclectic interior design

Mix and match pattern and color from Turnstyle interior design firm

Baby Leo isn’t in the mood to allow me to sit here and write for very long, so I have to keep this post brief.  These spaces from Turnstyle don’t need much said on their behalf – they speak for themselves!

I actually featured this glamorous kitchen recently following it’s reveal in Domino.

    Such a cool hip nursery!

Well, sorry I had to keep it brief. What do you think of Turnstyle’s interior design style?

  • What’s up with Anthropologie?

    Stuff I’m loving from Anthropologie

So I’ve been really out of the loop when it comes to EVERYTHING since Leo was born 1 year and 2 days ago!  Slowly I’m starting to come out from the first-time mom rock and live a bit of my own life again.  This includes dedicating more time to Decorology (a new Decorology is coming soon!), checking in with old blogger friends, trying to make new ones, and seeing what my favorite home decor stores have been up to.
While I do like Anthropologie their style isn’t exactly mine to a T, but an Anthropologie piece mixed in here or there throughout our home would be amazing.  Problem?  Monies.  But I dream.

How beautiful is this house?  The very cool rug and Moroccan wedding pouf are Anthropologie. The house is Sarah Schneider’s. Does anyone know who is this Sarah Schneider from Love, Sarah Schneider?  She obviously has lots of monies, and seems to feature A LOT of Anthropologie stuff, but I can’t find any info on what she does other than being a “wifey” “mommy” and blogger.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  She seems immensely talented and I’m just wondering if she was a stylist or event planner before that.

As always whimsical patterns and bohemian flair abound in Anthropologie’s rugs and upholstery.

The hand carved lotus bed is beautiful.  I’m also loving that bedding.  Anthropologie bedding is gorgeous, but I can only afford sale prices and then you can rarely get a matching set.

Mixing two goodies!  Lucite and brass.  I really like the palette in this photograph.

The spaces they shoot in are just as gorgeous as their furniture.  I love that coffee table.

And that settee…and that rug.  I’ve missed you Anthropologie.

Do you like Anthropologie or have any of their home goods? How’s the quality?

*This post is NOT sponsored nor have I received or been offered anything from Anthropologie.
