Air Conditioning Installation

Summers in Canada can get extremely hot. The highest noted temperature was 49.6 degrees Celsius in July 2021. British Columbia is by far the hottest city in Canada with the highest temperatures during the summer.

Air conditioning is vital for people to keep their homes cool and to avoid humidity in the house. With temperatures like the above, it can get extremely uncomfortable for people to sleep or stay in their house without feeling sweaty, too hot, and tired.

The installation process of an air conditioner is extremely complicated and takes a while to do. Firstly, most newer AC units are much larger than their older models. This makes them much more efficient. Great for efficiency, but not so great when you must find a new area to place the AC into as the old space is too small.

Someone needs to come out and check the old AC unit. It may need special tools when being removed and replaced. After all details are collected, someone comes out to then remove the old unit and install the new one.

It is important that the person installing the AC is ACE certified. It is not an easy process, and so it is important they know what they are doing.

What are the different types of air conditioners?

There are a few different air conditioners to choose from, such as:

Most common AC units are window mounted. Half of it is inside and the other half outside. This type of air con is easily installed and is designed to fit window frames. Through-the-wall air cons are built into the wall. It is very efficient and saves a lot of money as it does not allow a lot of cool air to escape outside.

Portable units are great as they can be moved to whichever room you are going into. It does not need to be installed as most of the time it is on wheels for ease of movement to wherever you need it. Mini-split air conditioners are much quieter than any other type of air con. They have an indoor and an outdoor unit.

Portable air conditioners cost between $400 and $700. Mini-Split ACs can be quite expensive as you are buying two units, one for the outside and the other for inside. They can cost up to and over $3000.

What are the costs for hiring a professional?

Professional installation can cost you anywhere between $500 to $1000. Sometimes the price can be more depending on the type of AC you are getting installed. Factors in relation to the old AC are considered also. Some old ACs may be more problematic to remove and therefore the installation price will go up. Most of the time there will be a consultation first prior to setting a definite price.

It is easier to hire a professional as they already know what they are doing. It can be costly, but the service provided will be of a high quality. Trying to install an AC yourself will take you more than a day if you unfamiliar with what you are doing.

You can rest assured that the work done by a professional will be of a good quality. If anything goes wrong, there is protection available, and they will come back out to fix whatever the error is. These installers are certified which means that even if you do have to pay a high fee, at least you will not be wasting money when trying to do it yourself and doing it wrong.

To avoid damaging the internal system of the AC, it is advised to hire a professional as they know all the ins and outs of the unit. They will not damage the warranty of the unit. To make sure your AC lasts you longer, it is beneficial to have it set up correctly with no errors.

Professionals have many years of experience behind them. They get paid to do a good job and keep you safe. If anything goes wrong, you can hold them accountable, and save money on repairs.

Most types of AC units need a professional to install them. They come in many different shapes and sizes and can be quite expensive, so it is important to get them installed properly with no errors. Portable AC units are the only ones that do not need professional help in installing, as there is no installation required. Hire a professional to save time, money, and keep yourself safe.
