Meet the new puppy!

I thought you all might enjoy an introduction to my parent’s new puppy, Storm. She’s an Australian shepherd – almost 12 weeks old.

Playing with her big brother Remi on the couch.

A romantic cabin that is remarkibly bright and airy!

I always like to ring in the week with light and cheery images since Monday’s can be tough enough. While cabins are often cozy and charming – one thing I don’t like about them is that they are usually dark. This one however, breaks free from the mold with bright white washed logs and ample windows.

What do you think?

I love this shot.

The wide open bedroom with high ceilings is a great way too keep things airy.

An 18th Century Copenhagen apartment full of historical charm

I love older homes and buildings not only for their historical charm, but because each one is a little different. This is sometimes by design, and sometimes from the relationship the house has had with previous occupants.

Love this room- great for napping or reading

I really like that this home is obviously lived in – not just staged for the photographer

Need a little extra wardrobe space?

I saw this in issue 3 of Lonny Mag and I really thought it was a cool idea. We could all use a little extra closet space – but what I really like about this is that it shows you how to create a little extra space for your accessories. I know I would love a closet specifically dedicated to shoes, handbags, and jewelry.

The wardrobe they use in this demonstration is called PAX from Ikea.

So nice!

I like the idea of adding a mirror to turn the wardrobe into a little vanity.

Go Lonny Mag, Archive, Issue 3 to see the project in the magazine.

A darling light and airy house

This house by KML Designs is just too cute. I don’t know if I could realistically live with so much white, but I could probably do a room or two. I adore the quirky accents – like the polka dot wallpaper, and the accents in pretty colors.

Cute wallpaper huh?

Two glamorous, unique spins on classic rooms

I want your opinion on these two renovations I found in House Beautiful. One is a kitchen that’s decorated to feel more like a formal dining room. It’s pretty neat – what do you think?

One side of the kitchen

The other side of the “kitchen”
This room is large so I think that’s one major factor to this working. I really like the identical sideboards on either end of the larger table.

The second room I found is this rancher renovation turned into a modern open layout home.

Vintage beauty – inspiring photos from “Robes of Earth” on Flickr

I discovered Robes or Earth’s photostream on flickr while searching for photos of apothecary cabinets – and I think you’ll agree that it’s a find! The photos are from amazing museums around the artist’s home of Melbourne Australia – like “an open-air recreation of a coal mining settlement in the 1880s in rural Australia” – Coal Creek. The photographer – Penny Elizabeth Neal is also a salvage artist and craftsperson and creates amazing pieces of jewelry from vintage finds, which she sells on Etsy.

In fact, she has three Etsy shops –
Sparrow Salvage – the new shop with a more sparse, primitive feel.

Little Brown Sparrow
(the old shop) for found-object jewellery, paper collage and more, all made from salvaged and antique things…

The Dark Woods
for ragged taggle clothing, jewellery, goods and chattles with a dark, sparkly, earthy faery edge.

Check out the candelabra covered in wax!

Check out the Robes of Earth Photostream. You’ll also see some photos of her studio where she creates her little treasures.
