What I Think Will Stay Trending

Trends come and go, but some seem like they stick around forever! Here are a few I predict will be sticking around for a while:
     :
A happy balance of white and bright colors!
Tile can add a raised facet to a space to help boost visual interest. in this pastel kitchen, the backsplash tile -- a miniature mosaic bordered by a raised tile -- picks up on the cabinet details and offers a focal point behind the range.:

    Light color kitchen cabinets.

  • The Dreaded Blank Wall!

    The Dreaded Blank Wall!

It seems like in most homes, there is always that one wall that stumps us. We have on idea what to do with it, or what would even look good there! Sometimes it’s an awkward size or shape and most pictures don’t seem to sit right. Here are a few ideas to get your brain moving this morning:

Think outside the box. Maybe a few pictures would work better than one large one. Maybe putting it at a different height gives it a better look.

You can always go with the more is better look! Instead of one simple picture, maybe a collage would work better.
Try a different shape or item. Maybe a mirror would be better suited. It doesn’t have to be a rectangle either!
Fill the space with floating shelves! This way you can change out the decor as you see fit and you aren’t stuck trying to find a large item that you might not like anyways.
Ditch the search for the perfect item. Pick some fun wallpaper instead! It will fill the void of needing to find something for the wall and it will make you smile every time you see it.
What tips do you have for filling a blank wall?
  • Dark Done Right!

    Dark Done Right!

My initial response to a dark room would be to lighten it up as much as possible! There’s something so airy and light about a bright room that just uplifts my mood. Then there are some rooms that make me second guess my opinion.
    Interior Design Ideas:
Although white kitchens are my favorite, I love a stunning balance between light and dark.
If you are in love with a dark color wall, the bedroom would be my first choice! Since you spend most of your time sleeping in here, it sets the mood perfectly and there are so many light and bright stunning bedroom sets to choose from to even it out.
Bathrooms are another great option to try it out dark colors. With the surrounding white tiles and natural light in this bathroom, adding dark cabinets and flooring doesn’t bring down the mood!
If you are wanting to try it out but are unsure if you’ll be happy with it, try it on one wall! Pair it was a nice neutral color and give it some time to see if it fits your space.

  • Creative Apartment Ideas for Space

    Creative Apartment Ideas for Space

Apartments can be tricky to decorate. Most apartment rooms duel as more than one functioning room. Often, you’ll find it’s an open floor plan which can cause an issue for dividing the rooms. There is usually a lack of storage too! Here are some creative spaces I found utilizing different ways to make the most of your small apartment.
Most apartments don’t have great closet space. Making a closet space can be simple! Use a sheet to create a wall and hang up a tension rod and maybe a shelf to utilize part of your room as a closet.
Most apartment kitchen’s never have enough storage. A rolling island is perfect for storage and counter top space!
I have seen many apartment rooms that are only big enough for a bed! Ditch the bulky frame and headboard and get creative. It’s amazing how you can create more storage and make the room feel bigger at the same time.
52m² répartis entre deux pièces presque égales, une belle cuisine, et une décoration d’intérieur reprenant les principes de la décoration scandinave, tant au niveau des revêtements de murs, de sols que du choix des meubles, de quoi plaire à la majorité...:
Pair down to the necessities. Too much clutter can make a room feel smaller. Find a happy balance between necessities and decor.
Enjoy it! More space sometimes just means more junk, more cleaning, and more on your to do list! Living with less can be fun.

Fall and leaves go hand in hand but beautiful glitter with lots of great fall colors is definitely a winner!
DIY Fall Chalkboard. Great for the holidays. Make a large one for the kitchen, and small ones to place around the table for thanksgiving as place cards. Could even use the small ones for labeling food dishes on the buffet table.:

There’s something so refreshing about have nature in your home. This wood slice sign is such a creative way to bring the outdoors in.
What is fall without a pumpkin? And I especially love a personalized pumpkin. What a fun way to add a little fall fun to your front porch.
A wreath is great for any season but to me, fall is one of the best times! They can be simple, natural, and stunning.

  • Revamping the Fireplace

    Revamping the Fireplace

With Fall around the corner I am thinking of all the things I’d like to get done before the weather get’s too cold! One of the most obvious things that stuck out to me was revamping the fireplace!
Giving it a new face lift and making it the centerpiece of the room is a great start.
This is also a great time to get it check out, cleaned out, and ready to go! You might even get a great discount if you go ahead and schedule maintenance now before the rush comes.
I also love the look of fresh firewood by a fireplace. Even if you aren’t a fall decor kind of person, this definitely fits the cold weather theme!
And last but not least, arranging your furniture to display all your hard work!
    Are you excited for fall?
  • Ideas for Creating More Space

    Ideas for Creating More Space

For those of us who lack square footage, we just need to get creative with the space we have. Some people would say you need more space, I say you need to think outside the box!
Use light bright colors to make the room feel more open and inviting.
Create a loft if you can for additional square footage.
Make a two person table space have room for more with a couple of bench seats.
Skinny spaces don’t have to be impossible. Choosing the right items like a skinny sink and toilet make this less cramped.
Don’t have room for seating and tables? This console gives you a place to set your drink without losing a ton of square footage and creating weird walkways just to get to the couch.
A desk doesn’t have to be large to be functional. A little corner table can do just fine.
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
  • Decorating on a Budget

    Decorating on a Budget

For those of us who have the desire to change the way our home looks, but don’t have a winning lottery to do so, here are a few things you can do to decorate on a budget:
Lend farmhouse charm to your dining room with a grain bin repurposed as a buffet. The deep drawers are suited for storing linens and party staples, such as candles and special occasion china! http://www.bhg.com/decorating/storage/projects/from-flea-market-finds-to-savvy-storage/?socsrc=bhgpin041615fleamarketstorage&page=16
    via bhg
Check out your local thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales! Get a great piece of furniture that might cost you a couple hundred brand new, and make it yours for just a few bucks.
Ask family and friends for unused furniture! Chances are high someone you know has something in their basement they don’t even know is down there anymore. Take it off their hands and in your home!
We love these different sized vintage mirrors! More flea market chic home accents:http://www.bhg.com/decorating/decorating-style/flea-market/flea-market-chic-home-accents/?socsrc=bhgpin052413marketmirrors=15

You might be surprised to find that you already own a fantastic piece of furniture that just needs a little TLC. Some paint and new hardware can make a huge change without much of a dent! My tip on spending less on paint? Buy a sample size bucket instead of a gallon especially for small pieces.
A little advanced diy for me but still a good one! I may have someone else do it for me ^^
Don’t want to buy expensive shelving? DIY! Wood and stain are much cheaper than pre-made store bought.
Be creative! Take the time to search and find the right pieces for the right price or see if you can make it yourself! You may be surprised at how much you can do with a tight budget.
  • My Home Oasis

    My Home Oasis

I’ve been challenged to show off what I would consider an oasis in a home.
A porch you never want to leave.
Helsinki architect Ville Hara and designer Linda Bergroth collaborated on a prefab shed-meets-sleeping-cabin, which can be assembled with little else than a screwdriver. Bergroth, inspired by nomadic yurt-dwellers, wanted an indoor/outdoor experience for her property in Finland.

Where even the restrooms feel relaxing and fresh!
It could be anywhere and have anything! To me, a home that’s an oasis, is just a home that you never want to leave. Even if it’s as simple as the home you are currently in.

We are getting the bathroom set for our little one and I am enjoying finding a happy balance between child and traditional bathroom decor.
I like the idea of picking colors that can be grown into or that will go will with different accent colors later on as they grow.

Bathtub pictures in the bathroom are my favorite! It’s a great reminder how much fun bath time is when someone might not want to take a bath!
A stool with storage is a great double duty item! This is a must have item for me in a kids bathroom.
These fun hooded bath towels are my favorite find from the online Caro Home kids section.
