Bathroom love – lavish and luxe

Right now I have been sharing a teeny, tiny bathroom with 5 other people while living with my boyfriend in Spain (we live with two other couples). I’m heading back to the states on Friday, where I will stay with my parents until my boyfriend and I go apartment hunting in DC in August. My parents just beautifully renovated their bathroom and I can’t wait to go back to using that one for a little while!

This tub looks so wonderfully deep – and the chandelier above it is a great idea…

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a tub positioned in a corner like that, but I love the view from the windows and the blue on the wall

Maybe one day…home offices I only dream about…

Some of you might of caught on that when I’m a bit stressed out or have a looming deadline, that I go a little home office “crazy.” As a freelancer working from home, however, it’s sooooo vital to have a space set up in a way to keep you focused, efficient, and to foster creativity.

Once I settle down and am no longer so transient – I’m determined to have a home office closer to one of these beauties…

Okay. This, to me, is home office PERFECTION. Okay – just add a settee or comfy reading chair and you have the office of my dreams. Two separate work surfaces, (a desk and a table), an abundance of area to pin up inspiration, a generous bookcase, and great light. *sigh…one day.

Do you have a great home office?

*Deep breath – dreamy and serene spaces to inspire peace

I have the biggest deadline of all time looming on what is my biggest project of all time as a freelance web designer – so I’m a bit stressed.

The images below are so gorgeous it’s hard to feel stressed…

A workspace will always have necessary “hard items” – computers, printers, lighting, etc., but even a small vase of fresh flowers add softness to the space.

Do you have a place in your home that makes you feel calm?

The arts and crafts style home of an artist and musician

It’s always nice to get a look behind closed doors of artists’ homes and workspaces – I always want to know the secret of their inspirations!
The home below belongs to artist/musician Kurt and songwriter Lori

Two rooms in this home are dedicated to artistic endeavors – the front being fine art, the back being music.

Album covers and other arty treasures decorate the music room
*love this

Kurt’s amazing studio set up

Lori’s studio

The artist’s paintings grace the wall of their mid-century modern style living room.

I guess I’d expect at least this many CDs in the music collection of a musician.

What do you think? Is there an artist whose home you’d like to tour?

More from my summer in Europe – enchanting Siena

Siena was not originally on our schedule to visit this summer, but we ended up being able to squeeze it in one day. It’s a laid back, charming Tuscan city with an amazing sense of history.

You can click on each image for a bigger version.

The famous Piazza Del Campo

You can read about Siena here.

Church of San Domenico on the hill.

I’d have to say the highlight of Siena for me was the interior of the Cathedral of Siena. I feel like if Tim Burton ever designed a cathedral interior, it would look like this. Black and white are the colors of the civic coat of arms of Siena, and the black and white stripes are really striking…

really cool, right?

I’ve seen A LOT of cathedrals and had never seen anything like this

There was also a room full of amazing painted manuscripts…which offer great pattern design inspiration…
What do you think? Has anyone here been to Siena? What did you think of the cathedral?

Here’s that list again of all my posts from our travels that I’ve posted –

Chic interiors inspired by the one and only Audrey

We love Audrey Hepburn. She seemed so effortlessly chic and sophisticated. From Charade to My Fair Lady, her movies are style icons unto themselves. Who can forget the “little black dress” in Breakfast at Tiffany’s or the black and white extravaganza of the races in My Fair Lady? Audrey Hepburn’s personal style was equally feminine and elegant with modern twists. It’s easy to see how these elements can inspire chic interiors.

Holly Golightly’s wardrobe with its trench coats and little black dresses was classic but her apartment was anything but. Remember the bathtub loveseat?

Her Brazilian inspired dÈcor in Breakfast at Tiffanyís was eclectic to say the least, fearlessly mixing antiques, modern lighting fixtures, taxidermy and vintage pieces with classic elements like a tailored tablecloth. Very Domino magazine!

(via)

We love the bold black and white stripes and French style accessories of this small powder room. The stripes remind us of Eliza Doolittle’s races outfit from My Fair Lady. What do you think?

(via)

Beyond her famous movie roles, Audrey Hepburn personified feminine, European chic. Tailored clothes, classic accessories and crisp color combinations are hallmarks of her style.

We love these rooms “inspired” by Audrey!

(via)

Mary Macdonald found inspiration in the famous Tiffany blue box. The feminine but not frou-frou furniture and black and white photos give her office a crisp, tailored feeling.

(via)

We’re inspired with interior design ideas from the mix of antiques and frilly touches, like the feather covered table lamp in this garret bedroom. The dressing table and French chair add a Parisian feel to the dÈcor.

This room is tailored without being fussy, just like Audrey. The black and white picture of her in this room is a nice touch along with the delicate wall sconces.
