    Fancy versus simple interiors

I’m excited to see if Decorology readers prefer fancy interiors or simple interiors.  I have my suspicions, but I’ll let you guys decide in the comments!  I just want to clarify that “fancy” does not have to mean gaudy, and “simple” doesn’t have to mean plain.  Both can be done well.  I only chose fancy and simple interiors if I thought they were done well and beautiful. Let’s start the fancy versus simple interiors show-down.

  • An Elegant Touch of Vintage

    An Elegant Touch of Vintage

An oldie but a goodie here…I’m under the wire today so I’m recycling a post back from 2015 that I thought was fun.  The vintage shabby chic look is not my style anymore, but I thought all of these photos were examples of great design.  Enjoy!

Adding a simple elegant touch to your decor, using vintage items, may not seem as easy as it sounds. Here are some great pictures to help you get inspired:

It can be as simple as adding an older piece to your current home decor, or mixing great finds together to create a room filled with a vintage feel.

Don’t feel rushed to find the perfect pieces, sometimes it takes a lot of shopping around, thrift stores, and flea markets to find that perfect one.
Mixing modern with vintage may be more of what you are looking for.
The fun thing about a vintage touch, is it is completely up to you! Add a few pieces, or make it a whole room of vintage decor.

  • Wallpaper and Tile?

    Wallpaper and Tile?

This weekend I saw a beautiful picture of a wallpaper and tile bathroom. It was so stunning, I just sat and stared at it for a while. Initially, if I was told to put both together I would take a minute to consider other options, but seeing it with my own eyes was totally different.

It made me look around for other options of tile and wallpaper that I hadn’t seen before. Take a look at what I found:
Or you can just do a tile that looks like wallpaper!
Would you put tile and wallpaper together? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Home decor should reflect where you’ve been, who you are, and what you love. If that is the beach, here is some great inspiration to make it a beach getaway indoors, even if it’s not outdoors!

Minimalist Interiors An approach for clean and serene spaces

    Minimalist Interiors

Sometimes I think we forget that simple can be just as beautiful and well decorated! With things so hectic in my life right now, it’s nice to see such minimalist interiors that are simple and clean.  Spring and summer is also a great time to clear out clutter – so be a little more ruthless when you empty out those closets this season.

This office space really inspires me to clear mine out a bit.  Less “stuff” means less distractions and therefore better focus.

    via babble

I don’t think minimal has to mean bare, just well edited and thought out.  It also calls more attention to the objects you do display, so they can take center stage.

Minimal also doesn’t need to be white, light, or neutral. It’s all about lines and your ratio of positive and negative space.
