Fresh and clean – interiors that scream spring

    Spring Interior Inspiration

Is it spring yet?!?! I don’t know if I’m ready for 90 degrees and the Maryland summer humidity, but I am soooo ready for that first warm spring air that makes the house smell so good when I open the windows.  We still have a little while to go before Spring is officially here, but it is nice to imagine and gather inspiration for how I will decorate once it’s time for a refresh

Never in a million years would I think to paint a ceiling golden yellow, but I think it really works here.

Dark wood floors don’t need to be dreary…counter balance them with light reflecting metallics, like the console table.

Oh the summer evenings and mornings I could spend on this porch with a tall iced coffee!

    Feminine Style

I love this girl’s style, I did a post on her office space awhile back.  You can see it here: gorgeous home offices.  So, it’s no surprise that her home was just as beautiful.  I am a sucker for feminine style.  Soft colors, lush textures and attention to the tiniest details for me make create an environment where one feels comfortable and pampered.

Calming color: beautiful hues for relaxing interiors

    Calming color

I think lavender is a surprising calming color that doesn’t get a lot of attention.  So here’s a little spotlight on lavender –  I hope you find it inspiring!

A lovely rug or throw blanket can do the trick if you are the person who loves to change up colors often. This shade of lavender is so pretty
Using lavender in a modern application can help the space from feeling two feminine.  This shower curtain might be purple, but it has a modern indie vibe to it that won’t scare off the men folk.
This bedroom is so pretty and comfortable looking.  And it was designed for a (very lucky) teenage girl!
The lavender used in this entryway and stairs is soft and unobtrusive, but you still notice it.
Are you a fan of lavender?

    Beautiful Master Bedroom Inspiration

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week.  I think I’ve been fighting off a cold as I’ve been so tired it feels like I’ve taken one too many Benadryl. So what better room to honor than the master bedroom, a place that should be for relaxation, rest, and SLEEP.

As always love the neutral walls and white bedding with pops of colors from the royal blue accent pillows.  Those sconces in the headboard are amazing too!

So Parisian, so chic.  This master bedroom has a feminine and glamorous appeal.  The mirror and the wood headboard are my favorite part of this room.

LOVE layering textures, especially when a bedroom is monochromatic or neutral.  What do you think of the diagnolly placed rug?

  • The Everygirl Alaina Kaczmarski’s Chicago Apartment Tour

A feminine pretty apartment with beautiful architectural details

I’m a sucker for a girly home that uses pastels and whites and uses cosmetics as decor.  With hubby and a baby boy though, it’s just not in the cards.  I get my fix from perusing house tours like this one below from the co-founder and editor of The Everygirl and blogger behind Live Creating Yourself- now Alaina Kaczamarski.

I’m starting with the home office area because that is my favorite. The lacquered parsons desk, ikea shelves, and impactful arc lamp all make for a beautiful place to be productive.

I believe Alaina has since moved, but she lived in this apartment with a roommate and two pups.  Lots of natural light, an outdoor space, and a separate space for a home office are what made Alaina choose this rental.

The living room is in peaceful gray with accents of black and white to add drama.  I’m loving all the decorative pillows.

The gallery wall serves as a great focal point and helps integrate the TV into the space.

The architectural details which include moulding and built-in bookcases are indeed beautiful. The bentwood chairs and Saarinen style table make for a pretty pair.

Even the kitchen stays in theme with Alaina’s favorite colors, mint, pink, gray, and gold.

Her favorite room is her pitch black bedroom.  What do you think?

  • You have to see this hip grand Chicago townhouse

This townhouse really evokes an unusual blend of old world grandeur and a modern, hip lifestyle.

A plush comfy armchair in the dining room – love it.

Tiled barrel vault ceiling?  Amazing.  This kitchen really evokes kitchens of the past.

The red carpet on the stairs and black and white contrasting tiles adds so much drama to the foyer.  I love that chandelier too.

The master bedroom is full of drama and glamour.  I love the deco lighting, dark walls, and canopy bed.

You can’t go wrong with silk drapes either.

  • Fresh home office inspiration

    Fresh home office inspiration

I’ve been kicked out of my home office since my husband started working from home two days a week. I love having him at home, but working from the dining room table has lost it’s novelty.  I figured getting some inspiration by finding some home offices that are beautiful and functional would help motivate me to move back into my office.

For me, I need a crisp, well-organized space in order to focus and get started on the project at hand.  It looks like the curtains can close and hide the shelves if needed.

An office in the pantry!  For a chef or food blogger this is genius!  It would be dangerous for me to work so close to food.A nice view is really important to me too!

Whether decorative or utilitarian, storage is important no matter what you do.If you’re a creative type, objects you find beautiful are really important to have around your workspace.  For me, flowers are always inspiring.

Crisp and minimal is a great place to start if you tend to have trouble getting into the “zone”

A chic bachelorette pad in NYC

In NYC square footage may be small, but style is big.  This amazing make over was done completely over the internet too, via eDesign.

Even the little dining area is glam!
I never would have thought to pair the bold modern wallpaper with the traditional, muted palette of the rug.
Vertical storage like the bookshelves are a must-have in small spaces. Love the styling of the shelves too.
    The art is great, too

Have an impressive collection? Show it off!

I love the dark wall against the classic lines of the cream headboard.

The rug perfectly subdued and “noticeable” at the same time.
