In this guide, we are sharing the most common issues that you may experience with your air conditioner, so you know what to do.

1. My air conditioner is leaking

This is a fairly common issue that you may experience with your AC system at home, but it is also one of the most dangerous things to experience too. This is because the leaking is close to electrical outlets and components, which is extremely hazardous.

Various forms of liquid could be leaking from the AC, with the most common being water. This can still be dangerous as it is leaking close to electrical outlets, but not as hazardous on its own as a refrigerant which may also be causing these issues.

Leaking usually indicates that something has broken or there is a part missing.

2. My energy bills are too expensive

When your AC is broken, it has to work extra hard to provide the same cooling relief it once did. This is why you may have noticed a spike in your energy bills, and many homeowners find this out too late.

If you have noticed that your energy bills are becoming too expensive when using the air conditioner, this could be a sign of serious internal damage to the unit.

Usually, this indicates that a major component inside the air conditioner is broken and needs to be replaced.

3. My thermostat is not working

The thermostat is an important part of the AC for homeowners as this is what allows you to control the temperature. Without access to this, you may find your home is too cold or too warm, and you are unable to resolve this.

Without access to the thermostat, you may find that your AC is expensive to run, as you cannot adjust the temperature accordingly. The thermostat can break down on its own, but this can also be a sign that something has gone wrong elsewhere in the unit which needs to be addressed.

4. My home is still too hot

As well as being unable to use the thermostat, you may find that your AC is no longer as powerful as it used to be. This is usually a common sign of wear and tear, indicating that you need to get your AC repaired or replaced as soon as possible.

All of these issues can be diagnosed and eventually repaired by a professional engineer.
