A great spring project that’s super easy and pretty!

For this great idea (and gorgeous photos), I thank Elizabeth Goodman, creator of the very pretty “To Be Charmed” blog.

The project’s star component is Japanese Washi tape, which is like a decorative masking tape. The tape is a fabric-like masking tape that comes in dozens of patterns, colors, and widths.

Some of these vases she’s created are actually paper cups!

I saw Sherlock Holmes a while ago in Boston visiting my friend Liz, and we both ended up drooling over more than Robert Downey Jr. Both of us being RISD grads, the art at the end credits left us in our seats while audience rolled out. Here are some great screenshots I found on Graphic Exchange. The end sequence was done by a company called Prologue, which coincidentally enough, another RISD friend of mine used to work for in LA. A beautiful, glamorous house to ring in the week

The home of Lizzie Bailey is sooo pretty, glamorous, clean, and crisp – I just had to share it with you right away. Bailey actually majored in English but found her calling as an interior designer while working (and doing a little photo shoot styling), at Better Homes and Gardens. As you can see, she’s found her calling.

The horizontal stripes in the entry way is just great. A smaller space is a great place to go bold if there’s a certain wallpaper or paint treatment you love but are too nervous to use in a large room. It helps create little nooks of interest.

Happy Friday everyone! Tuesday and Wednesday sorta merged for me, and I don’t know where the week went. Anyway, I’ve had these images from an old ad campaign from Brunschwig & Fils, and I just love the whole enchanted look of these sets.

I like the fireplace treatment in this one, I don’t know if those are real sticks lined up vertically or a screen with an image, but I have never seen it before and think it’s a great idea for a non-working fireplace.

If you aren’t familiar with the blog “Good Bones Great Pieces,” let me introduce you. They are a mother-daughter design team and the daughter’s first apartment was just featured in Traditional Home! I’m just going to show you pics from Lauren’s Brooklyn apartment.

Lauren’s favorite furnishing is this old desk turned vanity she found on the streets of Brooklyn. I’ve lived in Brooklyn 3 years and have to say that you find the best stuff on the streets of NYC. Especially in higher income neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, and Upper East/West side. Just make sure you check everything carefully for “pests.”

This gorgeous dresser was passed down via Lauren’s great-grandparents.

A fun and eclectic home office…

…designed by the bold and fun Betsy Burnham. This is an office in a home she decorated, and was featured in Lonny Magazine’s 3rd issue, which is really great by the way.

I thought it had a really nice sense of personality, and it’s something I wouldn’t always lean to, so lately I’ve been into expanding my “design aesthetic horizons”

It’s not a new notion, Paris is beautiful, romantic, and has a wonderful touch of old-world that I don’t think is going away soon (which is for the best)! Recently my friend got me a great gift – “Taschen’s Paris ~ Hotels, Restaurants & Shops,” and what I love about it is the inside look it gives you to beautiful Paris. I think you’ll agree.
