    Work Space Love!

I’m a huge fan of checking out how everyone else spends their working day. It’s fun to see what kind of work environment others thrive in and maybe get a feel for what may help me thrive!

Most jobs have similar things or tasks that become monotonous and a simple change in the work environment can really help overcome that dreaded feeling.

For some, a simple cleaning can do the trick. Giving yourself a clean fresh start can reinvigorate your work ethic.

Another way to appreciate your work space is to get out of it! I’ve been reading up on the Pomodoro method and a quick 5 minute break, a walk, or just a moment outside can really make you appreciate coming back.
Finally got around to blogging a few photos of our home office makeover. Well, the finished product anyway! Link in profile.:

Sometimes treating myself to a new decor item can give me that little peek of excitement to re-love my space again.

  • Powder rooms that make me squeal!

Powder rooms that make me squeal!

I have no idea why I have an obsession with well decorated powder rooms, but I do! It’s the one place a guest will go that you can guarantee that they’ll be checking out the space from head to toe.
There’s nothing better than opening a door to a beautiful bathroom! Well cleanliness is a major one too, but you know what I mean.

These are rooms that are fairly easy to upgrade too! A little paint or wallpaper can make a major statement.
Elegant printed wallpaper in blue and white with gold accents and mirror above the sink with white bathroom cabinets. Stunning bathroom design idea!:
Some upgraded hardware and a stunning mirror can be so eye-catching! Fresh flowers are a big win for me too.

    Filling Empty Corners

We all have that one corner or space in our home that we have no idea what to do with! Here are some ideas to fill up those empty corners and make the best use out of them:

Extra seating is always an option! A simple chair can fill up a corner without adding too much clutter.
An unexpected space to work! I love this custom style desk for someone who maybe doesn’t like the look of a traditional work space.

I love a simple plant to fill a corner. It’s a great way to add a fresh touch to a room without much work!

Shelving can add a great touch to a corner, especially for those who could use a little extra storage.
    Farmhouse Entry:
A simple picture and some knick knacks can add a great touch to a corner. I also love that these containers can hold miscellaneous items that you maybe wouldn’t leave out otherwise!

  • Create a staycation worthy home!

Daydreaming of a vacation but your budget says no? How about a staycation instead! Now it won’t be easy because it comes with a lot of planning and preparation, but the reward is totally worth it!
Step One: Declutter EVERYTHING! Spend a day in each room going through every single item you own. Fill boxes with things that need to leave that you can either donate or at the end of the week, host a huge yard sale and make some money off of your hard work.

Step Two: Pick one room that you’ve always wanted to update and do it! This one doesn’t have to be a budget buster. Fresh paint is cheap, or maybe a few new chairs you found at a yard or estate sale. A fresh outlook can really change your perspective.
Beautiful white and minimalist bathroom. Walk in shower and a huge bath!:
Step Three: Do a deep clean. Spend a weekend or treat yourself and pay someone else to clean with the money you made from selling your clutter! Get a nice fresh and clean smell throughout that house!

Step Four: If you are like me your office is at home. Either put it away, or close the doors! A staycation means putting aside work to enjoy your stay there.

    Step Five: Enjoy!
  • Freshen Up for Summer!

Sumner is all about getting outdoors and enjoying the sunshine, but what do you do if you feel like you are stuck at home with chores and cleaning to do?
Mix patterns like a pro by following this simple rulebook. One way to mix patterns is by starting basic. Try three patterns in a range of scales. Make sure to include lots of solid colors or neutrals in the room to keep things looking organized.:

Maybe it’s time to freshen up the indoors to make your to do list a little less overwhelming! Clean out all the clutter and lighten up all the work!
Make almost everything in your home easy to clean in just a few seconds or less! Lose all the miscellaneous things that create more tasks for you to do like minimizing the amount of throw pillows on your bed and keeping your bedside tables clear of things.
    sweet details...:

With little ones it is a lot harder to keep a space clean and tidy! Have a space for everything and give yourself a time limit to get it cleaned up in. That will get you moving and on to the next task!

Lose the chaos and clutter! Dedicate a day to go through all of your things and get rid of what you don’t need. The less you have clutter up your vision, the less work your brain will feel like it needs to do each day. Sometimes, the less decisions actually are better.
Before and After: An Incredibly Crisp California Redesign | MyDomaine:
Keep as many easy to clean items as you can. Something you can quickly wipe down and go is much less overwhelming then something that needs to be washed and dried! In the summer, sometimes I like to do use outdoor materials to make it a breeze.

For the bigger cleaning projects, split it up into certain parts on certain days. Clean the tub one day, the sink area the next, etc.
How do you plan on freshening up your home for the summer?
  • Bright and Beautiful Spaces

Sometimes we just need a fresh look. Here are a few fresh spaces that are not only bright, but beautiful too!

    Nursery:
We found a local contractor who custom built the bench for the space. I love the drawers on either side that give us a little more storage. Right now we keep our board games in them. We looked on Pinterest for style ideas, and loved when breakfast nooks had a little character. To get that, we added molding all around and added extra slats for more dimension. Gorgeous bathroom makeover! Love the marble, white and gold combo.:
Could your space use a little fresh touch of bright and beautiful too?

We’ve gotten a taste of some spring like weather here and it’s gotten me excited to get our porch ready for some fun!

I’m ready to sit on the porch and watch the world go by and soak up a nice cool breeze and a warm day.

  • Fresh Flowers, Books, and Candles

    Fresh Flowers, Books, and Candles

One of my favorite things about decorating a home is the little touches that go on table tops. I like to keep it simple and stick with similar decorations throughout the house that vary just a little.
Fresh flowers are my favorite. They can be changed out during the season, kept neutral, or add a touch of color to a room.
For larger tables, a simple runner with a vase of flowers is beautiful!
Books are amazing! You can choose them by color and design or just put out some of the ones that mean the most to you!
