Living with Less
As most of you know, clutter can make your overall home decor design seem a little off. If you feel like the amount of things in your home are not showing the true value of the design that you want in your home, maybe it’s time to live with less.Decluttering can be a huge task that seems quite overwhelming, especially for those who have a hard time letting things go. My suggestion for those who are struggling is to do one room! It’s amazing how one room can boost your motivation and really show you what decluttering can do.First, start with a plan! What is your style, your color scheme, and your purpose for the room. Now take everything out of the room. If you need to paint or do any big changes, now is the time. Once the room is exactly how you want it empty, add one piece at a time.Just because you want a simpler room, doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! Make sure you add your personality in it, but do it in a way that doesn’t involve a lot of small pieces that will need to be cleaned, dusted, moved, and rearranged later. You might be surprised when you feel like the room is complete, how many pieces you have left! Here’s the decision you’ll have to make. Either get rid of everything you didn’t put back in the room, or go through it and decide what to keep and what to throw or give away. But whatever you do – don’t put it back in the room you just finished! For rooms that require a lot more things to be kept. Consider closed storage with drawers and cabinets that you can’t see through. It will create that sense of less clutter while maintaining the items you need to live.Do you think you can live with less? -
Antique Furniture brings beauty, character, and history to these interiors
Antique Furniture
Antique Furniture – does anything add character to a home quite like it? I suppose that’s debatable, but I am instantly drawn to old pieces with a penchant for craftsmanship and history. Another HUGE appeal that I don’t think is broadcast enough is that there is not potentially harmful off-gassing!
Beautiful hardwood floors and mouldings make this furniture and decor shine.
Antiques don’t mean stuffy or traditional, there is a lot of antique furniture out there that is modern even for today’s standards.
A desk so gorgeous sitting down to answer emails will seem like a treat…maybe.
Believe it or not this dining room is in a beach house. How clever is using these leather benches for table seating?
Holy armoire…and wallpaper.

Imperfect interiors: Sometimes it’s okay to be messy
Imperfect Interiors
With most of my home decor experience, organized is one thing that is a requirement. An organized, clean, crisp room is usually what’s most pleasing to the eye. Let’s get realistic though, if we are going to be living in this room, it’s bound to get messy!
Today I am letting it go and embracing some of the chaos, because what is creativity without a little clutter? -
Tips for working from home!
Working from Home
A lot of people ask me how I handle working from home. As you can imagine, it can be very distracting if you aren’t prepared for it! With house chores looking right at you, all your favorite things to do during your down time within eye sight, and no one checking on you to see what you’ve gotten done, it can be a bit overwhelming. Here’s a few tricks I use to stay on track:
1. Have a dedicated work space.Even if you are sharing the room with another space, dedicate a wall or a section of it to your work space. You need to have a defined area so when you “step into it” you can be in the work mode and not “see” all the distractions around you.via matchbookmag2. Get dressed and create a morning routine! You don’t have to be in fashion, in style, or dressed to the T, but taking a shower and getting out of your jamies can seriously motivating! Also sticking with a morning routine can make you feel ready and prepared for the day.3. Set dedicated work hours, and give yourself a real lunch break!Working off hours can really hurt your body and your routine of working. Overworking can also wear you down and make you less effective at what you are actually doing. Set dedicated work hours and be sure to give yourself a break, just like you would at any out of home job!4. Use those extra hours wisely! If you are like me, clutter and unorganized mess can be seriously distracting. Use the time you’d be commuting during an out of home job to do the cleaning around the house! Get everything set so the next morning is dedicated to your routine and work load.5. Have fun with your office space!Decorate it nicely, keep it organized, and have fun with it! After all, you will be spending most of your time at home here. Why not love it? -

Small home office ideas
Inspiration for a small home office
I’m lucky that I finally now have a dedicated room in my home to serve as my office, but I wasn’t always so fortunate. I’ve worked in home office arrangements that include the laundry closet of my NYC apartment, at a secretary desk by my bed, and behind the sofa in a nook of my last one bedroom apartment.
If you need a dedicated workspace in your home but don’t have a room to serve as a home office, never fear…we’ve got lots of small home office ideas and tips for you below…
Even a nightstand can serve as a desk in tight spots. A hall or foyer with unutilized square footage might just work as a home office with the right desk.
I love this ode to the traditional secretary. A glossy finish makes it fit in with the rest of the fancy space. If this is too traditional for you, their are many, many modern secretary desks to be found.
An oldie but a goodie. Convert a closet into your office! The genius behind this idea is that you can close the office doors and hide your office when your work is done. Install vertical storage solutions like the rod with hooks, and use a sconce for lighting to save valuable desk storage.via Pinterest via IHeart Organizing
Don’t worry if you can’t “hide” your office in a closet. Just give your work space the same thoughtful consideration as you would any other room in your home. Choose a color scheme, matching accessories, art, etc. If you office is out in the open it will be important to keep it tidy!
Another office in a closet. Notice how well utilized the shelves are with containers and bins to keep things organized. This clever creative even stores his/her sewing machine there! An unutilized wall in a living room or bedroom can not only give you a workspace but also add to the beauty of your home if you carefully consider that your furniture and accessories complement the room it’s sharing.
I hope you’ve found these small office ideas inspiring!

Away from Home Office
Since I work from home, I tend to love posting pictures of inspiration for home offices. A few of my friends have rented space or work in a shared office setting and were struggling with ideas to make it feel more like home!So what’s my advice for making it feel more like home? Find great additions that aren’t permanent that create the ambiance of home. Pictures and desk accessories are an easy budget friendly addition.via theultralinxIf you can add some plants and a couch. Bring home to you! An area rug, a lamp, pretty much anything can make you feel more at home.Think outside the box! Get a desk that suits you instead of just using something more traditional or what the office already has. Bringing small pieces of furniture of your own for shelving, storage, or just simply decoration can make it unique to you.If you are bound to what’s available, get away from the wall! Put your desk in the center of the room so you don’t feel like you are boxed in.Make it inviting! Add some curtains, a blanket, a throw pillow! Anything to give the room some comfort and charm. What would you do if you had your own office space away from home? -
