    Beautiful Beds

    A well-made bed

Since having our second son Beau in October, and with an active 2.5 year-old, I don’t get to see my bed very often.  Ohhhhh how I miss it.  Maybe it’s some odd form of self-torture to be perusing the internet for pictures of beautiful beds, but that’s how I’m operating these days.  Enjoy!

    beautiful beds

I tend to go for beds that are a mix of crisp and tailored but also cozy and layered.  I don’t like a bed that’s too “shabby chic” or one that looks like the sheets will crackle when I get in them.

A lot of people might like this trend of losing the top sheet.  My husband and I tried it, but we weren’t fans.  It meant I was left with nothing when my husband stole the duvet from me in the middle of the night.

My recipe for a well-made bed:

    1. Fitted sheet
    2. Flat sheet
    3. Middle blanket (unless we are using our down comforter, in which case a middle blanket would make the bed too warm.
    4. Quilt or coverlet (the focal point of your bed unless you have a show-stopping headboard – Maharaja headboard from Wisteria anyone?).
    5. Throw at the foot of the bed incase your bed fellow manages to steal the sheet, middle blanket, and quilt.
    6. Pillows – I waiver on one pillow, two pillows, or a neck pillow.

Not crazy about the bedskirt and I couldn’t sleep on those pillows, but still a very pretty bed!

    beautiful beds

This bed looks so welcoming to me.  I’m not usually super into monogramming, but I like it here.  It brings in the accent color where otherwise the bed might look too stark.

This bed with linen sheets looks divine too.

  • A Touch of Wicker

    A Touch of Wicker

There are certain southern styles that I adore. Barn doors, throw pillows, blankets, and baskets are just a few that you could find in my home. But I wicker never really struck a cord with me. I love the look of wicker furniture out on a porch, but I am surprised at how much I like the look indoors!

    Comfortable Casual Spaces

Today I just feel like being comfy and cozy and want my home to feel the same way! Here’s some inspiration for making your home feel a little more comfy:
Blankets and pillows are a must for me!
Less clutter and more warmth. Natural light, fresh flowers, and something you love. Keep it simple.
This picturesque porch was made for glasses of iced tea and shooting the breeze on summer evenings. Black rockers echo the home's dark trim and connote throwback comfort in a slightly more modern silhouette, amplified by ikat pillows in black and white.:

Even your outdoor space can feel comfortable! Make it a place you’d love to curl up and watch the world go by.
It might seem difficult to make a formal dining room comfy but it can be done. It can be as simple as a rug on the to give it that soft texture.
If the kitchen is your sanctuary, let it be! Make room for you where you are the most comfortable.

    Lovely Moroccan Decor Inspiration

I love adding different elements of the world into my home decor and I’ve always been a fan of the Moroccan style but haven’t quite implemented in my own home decor in now!

  • What Kind of Bed Maker Are You?

As much as I love to say that I am a great bed maker, I tend to to not always be the best at it! Here are a few bed making personalities I tend to lean towards:

The Comfy But Pretty look. You partially made it, but let’s be honest, you just want it to be easy to get back into when the time comes!
The Everything Has A Place look. You do it every morning, its part of your routine and you make sure it’s picture perfect ready every time!
The It’s My Bed And I’ll Do What I Want or don’t do anything look. It’s a bed! Why make it when you are getting right back in?

The Tidy, Clean, & Simple look. You like it polished and clean. You border on the line of minimalistic but also love a hint of character.
The Pillow Happy look. There’s no such thing as too many pillows, and you like them in mix matching styles as well! After all, who doesn’t love jumping in a pile of pillows?
    linens in shades of grey
The Let’s Do This Later look. Who said the bed had to be made? It looks better folded in a pile anyway!
  • Dusting Off The Dining Room Table

As the cooler weather is settling in and fall brings us indoors, I can’t help but think of all the holiday events and dinner parties that are coming soon! In preparation I am dusting off the dining room table and finding some inspiration to make it shine this year:

Keep in mind that changing out your dining room doesn’t have to be a pricey event. A few candles, a cheap centerpiece, and maybe a few stunning linen chair covers can really change the ambiance of a room.
Another option might be some fresh flowers and throw pillows to add a little color and life!
Even just changing out the lighting can really make a room stand out. This chandelier screams for attention!
    Have some fun with it!

  • Tips for bringing a touch of red into your home

Tips for bringing a touch of red into your home

With February right around the corner and Valentine’s Day coming up soon, what better time to experiment with that powerful and passionate color: red

Artwork is a great way to test out red.

Or a great statement piece of furniture.

If you already use a color in your home that is complementary with red, adding a few accents will be easy and look thought out.

Throws and lampshades are great budget friendly ways to bring a little love in the room without breaking the budget.

A new piece of wall art can change up the room and adding a few pillows and a bench seat or stool can tie it all together!

Do you use red in your decor?
