    Minimalist Interiors

Sometimes I think we forget that simple can be just as beautiful and well decorated! With things so hectic in my life right now, it’s nice to see such minimalist interiors that are simple and clean.  Spring and summer is also a great time to clear out clutter – so be a little more ruthless when you empty out those closets this season.

This office space really inspires me to clear mine out a bit.  Less “stuff” means less distractions and therefore better focus.

I don’t think minimal has to mean bare, just well edited and thought out.  It also calls more attention to the objects you do display, so they can take center stage.

Minimal also doesn’t need to be white, light, or neutral. It’s all about lines and your ratio of positive and negative space.

  • Barn inspired homes.

    Barn inspired homes.

Living in a barn might not sound all that appealing, but these spaces below may just change your mind!
This barn looks modern and rustic! It’s simply gorgeous.
With large windows, tall ceilings, and a touch of the barn indoors, this space takes living in a barn to a whole new level!
Not interested in it looking so much like a barn inside? This upgrade could do it! I like how they are using the beams to define the barn like living, but still keep it updated everywhere else.
Would you live in a renovated barn?
Perfect!!! Woodshop downstairs, live upstairs, couldn't be better. Gotta get building.:
    I would!!

    Planked Ceilings

Planked ceilings come and go but some stand out more than others!
Most don’t think elegant at first when hear plank wood ceiling, but this will definitely change your mind!
Some call it cozy, I call this gorgeous!
Brick "rug" is a cool idea. Don't have to worry about scraping the wood with the chairs. Hmmmm . . .:

It can create a rustic outdoor setting inside.
It can fit in with a more modern decor.
It can easily add a touch of character to any room.

  • My Home Oasis

    My Home Oasis

I’ve been challenged to show off what I would consider an oasis in a home.
A porch you never want to leave.
Helsinki architect Ville Hara and designer Linda Bergroth collaborated on a prefab shed-meets-sleeping-cabin, which can be assembled with little else than a screwdriver. Bergroth, inspired by nomadic yurt-dwellers, wanted an indoor/outdoor experience for her property in Finland.

Where even the restrooms feel relaxing and fresh!
It could be anywhere and have anything! To me, a home that’s an oasis, is just a home that you never want to leave. Even if it’s as simple as the home you are currently in.

  • Black & White Bathrooms

    Black & White Bathrooms

Today I am embracing a little black and white. I tend to shy away from the darker colors but here is some inspiration that is proving that a little dark never hurt anyone:
Love the lay out. Bath under window. The colors. Vanity. Light fitting. Everything!

When using black and dark colors, I think it’s great to mix it with some bold bright as well to even it out and give natural light a chance to brighten up the room.

  • Why I Love Plantation Shutters

If you are looking to change out your blinds, you might want to take a look at plantation shutters. There are many reasons to love them:

Don’t make the mistake of thinking they are just for the outdoors! Although they look fantastic on this home, they have many other fantastic uses.
The are great for letting in natural light, but for the more private moments of the day they close tight so you’ll feel safe and secure.
They are easy to clean, and let’s be honest – they look gorgeous!
You can get them in any shape and size and you don’t even need window dressings! They look gorgeous on their own.
They are energy efficient and you won’t have to worry about them banging and clanging around on a  windy day.
They are even great on patios!
  • Grand Entryways to dream about!

  • Charming chairs chosen for form and function

Charming chairs chosen for form and function

Finding the perfect chair may not seem as easy as picking from modern or traditional! I love chairs not only for there intended function but because of the cool sculptural quality some of them have. There are some seriously unique designs coming out of the wood works to make your space one of a kind.

Instead of decorating your room and adding chairs in, think twice about using your chairs for the decorative pieces. These tall gorgeous chairs are a VIP in what makes this room so gorgeous…

If you are using it in a small space and don’t want the chair to be overwhelming, choosing a piece that has cut-outs or isn’t one big solid block won’t add too much visual weight, and won’t clutter up the appearance of space. This wire chair also looks pretty interesting too… Finding unique chairs isn’t always easy, but taking the time to search through the right stores can help you find that perfect piece. Of course, chairs can be pricey, but more and more manufacturers are making nice options that allow you to buy more than one!

Looking for something to go with a piece you already have but not blend in? This curvy chair matches the same theme of wood with black sleek lines but it definitely stands out on it’s own making it feel unique and gorgeous.
Maybe comfort is more your thing. You can find a really comfy chair that doesn’t scream granddad’s recliner. This one of a kind looks super cozy but is also really chic.  I could definitely get a lot of work done in that chair – and stay warm too!

If you are looking to mix and match, finding similar color or height chairs is a great way to keep the look of the room cohesive but still let your good eye for style and love of chair design shine.
