    The weather has been so wishy-washy. Teasing us with a 70 degree day, and then bringing us back down by dropping to 50 overnight! But, the leaves are finally on the trees, and the days are longer – so it’s safe to say Spring is here.

    …and fresh flowers. The first image is flowers in tea tins. I do this, but my tea tins aren’t water tight so I put a juice glass with water inside the tea tin and just put the flowers in the glass. The second image is a cute idea: use some glass bottles (they don’t have to match), wrap some jute or hemp around them – and you get a lovely handpicked, country centerpiece.

    When I was a kid, we out outside every evening in the summer. We didn’t have a patio, so we just set up chairs and a table right out in the yard

    An oldie but a goodie – a classic Domino post!

    As part of my ongoing series of posts honoring our late friend Domino, I now bestow upon you some lovely house tours we all came to look forward to every month. *sigh* Enjoy.

    Kathryn Ireland’s rustic style home. I love the humble bathroom, and the console in the kitchen with the dishes stowed underneath.

    Actress Julianne Moore’s stab at interior decorating. I like some of the choices she made – not all my style, but still pretty. I like the piece of drift wood on the radiator.

    Domino style director Dara’s lovely white bedroom.

    I love Amanda Peet’s down-to-earth, bohemian home. It’s so ethereal and filled with interesting, meaningful objects. I also love that you can tell that she had a hand in it. She didn’t just hire some designer to come in and make it look like a movie star’s home.

    I was a huge fan of Domino back before it folded, so I’m a bit ashamed to say I haven’t really checked out the resurrected mag until now. The actual print magazine comes out quarterly, but online they have a smorgasbord of eye candy for us design fiends. Enjoy below:

    Oriental rugs are a classic that are seeing a big revival as of late. We’re seeing them everywhere, and modern interiors and traditional interiors are sporting these tribal beauties.

    Luckily you don’t need to have tons of money to get your own – I’ve been seeing them regularly on sale and at a big discount.  Below are a sample of some of what you can find on sale and where to snag them…

    Can’t swing a carpet right now?  Grab a pillow made from antique rugs for about $100

    One Kings Lane is another flash sale site that seems to have regular sales on tribal rugs..

    This beauty is listed at $1,950 – but they have it for sale at $599!

    I didn’t hear about “Beyond on Rack” until recently – but they seem to have regular sales on rugs like these..(and also lots of great home organization stuff!)

     This 7’7″ x 1’9″ runner is on sale for $129.99!

     so gorgeous..

    One bad thing about these flash sale sites is that they only last a couple of days – and the good stuff sells out fast…

    Once the weather gets chilly we spend even more time in the kitchen baking up warm goodies. So I thought it’d be appropriate to post some kitchens which get me excited for the upcoming cooking/baking season – even though I primarily just eat the food – and someone else makes it.
