Proof wall to wall carpeting can be gorgeous

Growing up in an old farmhouse, we always had hardwood floors, so it would be hard for me to go to carpet I think.  That being said, wall to wall carpet does have it’s advantages.  Nothing beats it’s coziness underfoot, and when you have an infant who spends his day on the floor, under butt.  Also, if you live in a rental, wall to wall carpeting might be what your stuck with.  So fear not, or rejoice – wall to wall carpeting can be just as gorgeous as hardwood floors.

Wall to wall sisal carpet paired with the black walls looks so sophisticated!

If I were to ever go the carpet route I would want something with a modern texture in a neutral shade.

In this neutral bedroom the carpeting adds another layer of rich texture.

Loving these grays with the pops of yellow.

How dreamy and lush is this dressing room walk-in closet with diamond patterned carpet?

Pretty pretty gold bamboo bed frame with a minimal geometric patterned carpet in gray keeps things crisp.

    Mixing Pastels and Brights

Usually when you plan out a room you know what color scheme you are looking for and if you are going for a more subtle look or a bold look. What if you wanted both?
I’m seeing a lot of pastels mixed with pops of color on my instagram feed and I am loving it!
Lovely colorful breakfast/ dining in the kitchen! Pastel blue banquette seating, Saarinen inspired table and blue painted chairs with a pop of brights in the art and light.:
The fun part about using accent pieces is that if you change your mind later, you can grab a few new pillows or a painting and have a completely different room.
Love how textures and prints are combined here, especially on the sofa - so many accents, but great together. apartment of Swedish designer Elina Dahl:
It is so fun when two unexpected things come together to make something so unique and beautiful.
This is my dream Lounge room, from the Mozi Cockatoo Lamp, Deer Heads and the Horse Canvas, everything just works, it's chic, and a bit kitsch. Just the right amount of colour, pattern and texture. ~Sarah Cockatoo lamp. I want one!:

Sofas that are anything but neutral – couches with color

Our walls are close to this color – I just assumed we would get a gray sofa. All though I’d prefer white or cream, with an active young dog and a baby on the way, I’m afraid I’d be constantly fretting over stains. I would never have thought to use a light blue couch against an aqua wall, but I don’t mind it here.

I love navy, but I’m so afraid of it making our already small living room seem smaller.

Any of you have a bright, bold sofa that they love?

  • Mustard Yellow

Although not a typical color of choice for home decor – it surprisingly packs a punch! Check out some of the inspiration I found:

Keeping the walls monochrome adds airiness to the home, therefore making the space feel larger.

I love the mix of pattern between the rug and the curtains.

If you look carefully in the picture above, behind the mirror there is a bump in the wall that they couldn’t alter during the renovation.  So to distract from it they covered it with an interesting mirror and light fixture.

Two task lights substitute for an oven hood light.  I haven’t decided how I feel about this yet.  You?

I think I’ve shown this bedroom before.  But I absolutely love it!  The yellow coverlet with the gray walls is unexpected but still elegant.

Since the bathroom is small, the owners weren’t afraid to go bold and cheery with a lemon yellow wall paint.
