    The Best Master Bedrooms

    Beautiful Master Bedroom Inspiration

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week.  I think I’ve been fighting off a cold as I’ve been so tired it feels like I’ve taken one too many Benadryl. So what better room to honor than the master bedroom, a place that should be for relaxation, rest, and SLEEP.

As always love the neutral walls and white bedding with pops of colors from the royal blue accent pillows.  Those sconces in the headboard are amazing too!

So Parisian, so chic.  This master bedroom has a feminine and glamorous appeal.  The mirror and the wood headboard are my favorite part of this room.

LOVE layering textures, especially when a bedroom is monochromatic or neutral.  What do you think of the diagnolly placed rug?

Ali Cayne’s light-filled family friendly NYC townhouse

I was pretty darn excited to run across this house tour on Domino magazine because I’ve seen and featured rooms from it individually in previous posts (her bathroom is one of my favorites)! Ali Cayne is a restauranteur who moved to a downtown Manhattan townhouse and took the opportunity to update it to be a warm and inviting family home for her and her five children.

Ali really made her subway tiles pop by using a dark grout (darker grout also hides stains better than white).

    What an oven!
Open shelves full of beautiful dishes looks like a chef’s delight!
I love the light gray cabinets with the brass cup pulls.
Not only would I be thrilled to have a dressing room, but a dressing room white built ins and herringbone hardwood floors?
The Greenwich Village townhouse has amazing bones, and the renovations really are a breath of fresh air.
I don’t usually love accent walls, but I love a dark accent wall in a master bedroom.
This dining room is heaven.  A white gallery wall, and beautiful dining table and chairs.
I like the glam version of a sawhorse desk.  The giant inspiration board is great too.
Ali’s workspace is also light filled and features built in bookshelves.
This is the bathroom I’ve posted before.  It is an all time favorite.

    Inspiring small living rooms

Most of us don’t live in vast estates, and we don’t even live in a two story home.  Just a humble rancher for us – but we love it.  That being said, living in a smaller space requires more creativity on your part to find solutions to seating, decor, and storage issues.

Strong lines that are clean and modern keep attention on the moulding and ceiling, making the room look taller.  I love the fresh color palette too.
    via House

Take decor all the way to the top.  Don’t be afraid to hang artwork all the way to the ceiling.  It draws the eye up and creates the illusion of a higher ceiling.
    via Domino

Even if your living room is small, you can furnish it as you would a large one if you keep the furniture at a smaller scale.  Two benches serve as seating when the living room is used for conversation, and tuck under the TV console when it’s used for watching TV.
    via Domino

This small living room doesn’t lack in furniture because furniture is kept small,  and the chairs and sofa have narrow arms.  The console on the back wall is also narrow and doesn’t obstruct the view of the wall, helping the room look more open.

This small living room is cozy and inviting through the use of warm colors and layering textures.

The illusion of height is created in this super small living room by hanging curtains at the top of the walls, and a light reflecting mirror above the door.

  • The many uses of a rug!

The many uses of a rug!

There are plenty of ways to use a rug in a home that might give you a new perspective on what kind of rugs you choose! I love a rug that has a deeper meaning than just it’s beauty. There are so many antique and vintage rugs that bring a sense of history to a room.
Bursting With Plants, a 1910 Portland Foursquare for a Florist and Barista (via Bloglovin.com ):
There are rugs whose sole purpose is to tie in all the different colors and styles in a room. So many rugs are designed with such beautiful colors it would be hard to not find one in your style. A great place to shop for rugs by a certain color is Nazmiyal Antique Rugs. Not only do they have a wide variety of rugs but so many different styles to choose from.
I saw a Beni Ourain rug like this one at The Sunny Side & Co. https://www.etsy.com/shop/theboucherouiteshop:
Some rugs are meant to make a space feel longer or wider than it is. Neutral rugs are great for spaces that don’t need any extra color but really give you a sense of home.

Some rugs give you a pop of color that you need to complete a room. Whether it be bright or pastel, a hint of color on the floor can really bring a room together.

My favorite kinds of rugs are ones that make you feel like home where you’d least expect it! A rough outdoor space can easily be transformed into a cozy beautiful place you’d love to spend your days with a simple rug.

Picking the rug is the most important part. There is no denying a quality rug will make a room feel like it was meant to be.

Mix and match pattern and color from Turnstyle interior design firm

Baby Leo isn’t in the mood to allow me to sit here and write for very long, so I have to keep this post brief.  These spaces from Turnstyle don’t need much said on their behalf – they speak for themselves!

I actually featured this glamorous kitchen recently following it’s reveal in Domino.

    Such a cool hip nursery!

Well, sorry I had to keep it brief. What do you think of Turnstyle’s interior design style?

  • Beautiful bedrooms in shades of gray

    Gray bedrooms

Today we are sharing two of our favorite things.  Beautiful bedrooms, and the color gray.  You’ll also notice in a lot of these pictures of bedrooms an accent color of pink being used.  Turns out that pink and gray make a beautiful color palette for the bedroom.  And no, we weren’t talking about that Shades of Gray in the bedroom!

Beautiful bedroom #1 – I would never think to combine cream, gray, and bright pink, but I love how fresh and warm this bedroom looks at the same time. I wouldn’t change a thing, and the upholstered headboard is very to the tufted headboard we have in our bedroom.

Beautiful bedroom #2. Wowza. I love this one.  The velvet headboard is so elegant.  The crisp white bedding is perfectly chic.  The floral sham is the perfect accent to keep the bedroom from being too sterile. The tufted bench is what we’ve been looking for for our bedroom.

Beautiful bedroom #3: This bedroom has some great architectural details.  The chandelier over the bed makes for great impact lighting.  The bright pink in the floral curtains takes it a bit over the top for me, but over all I like this space.

Beautiful bedroom #4:  This gray bedroom, or neutral bedroom, is so serene.  The white bedding and painted ceiling mix casual with luxe.

Beautiful bedroom #5: This French bedroom is all ease and elegance.  The chandelier and high ceilings are luxe, and the casual sheets and bedding are comfortable.  And how about those hardwood floors?

Beautiful bedroom #6:  This bedroom is sweet and comfortable.  And all about those decorative pillows. The white leather Moroccan pouf is a nice eclectic touch to an otherwise contemporary bedroom.

Beautiful bedroom #7:  This pink and gray bedroom is feminine and simple.  I love the decorative pillows, the picture ledge, and the accent wall.  It also has a mid century modern style too.

I love adding different elements of the world into my home decor and I’ve always been a fan of the Moroccan style but haven’t quite implemented in my own home decor in now!

  • Adding the finishing touches to our newly renovated space

Adding the finishing touches to our newly renovated space

Our house is almost done. so close…. and baby is due in 3 weeks.  Hubby has been working tirelessly for four months now to make our house our home.  I don’t even begin to know how to thank him!  And now the fun part begins – decorating! While we do have many pieces we are going to keep, there are some things we need.  I’ve been scouring flash sale sites to try and get good stuff at a good price, but you have to check often and move fast – which can be tough if you’re undecided.  Here’s what I’ve found today that would look gorgeous in our space:

Now that we have a breakfast bar – we need stools.  These would be a great contrast to our white upholstered dining chairs.

We just bought a gorgeous silvery taupe sectional, and this color would be so great with it!

Two large baskets are needed by both doors for shoes.  We don’t have room for any entry way furniture like a shoe cabinet, and I will never train hubby to put his shoes in the closet.
3 items above were all found at Joss & Main

    Truly fresh and inspired spaces

I strive for a home that is thoughtfully decorated and put together, but at the same time not so styled and polished that it doesn’t look like anyone lives there.  It can be a hard balance to strike though, but if you take the time to pick out pieces, colors, and textures that are meaningful to you and fit your lifestyle, your home will feel beautiful to you even if there are shoes left by the door and mail piled on the counter.  Here are some spaces that I think are really beautiful, but have enough personality to shine even if someone really lives there!
