St. Bart’s house tour: cool, crisp Caribbean style.

This house tour will have you packing your bags.  It is the home of Keld Mikkelson of Day Birger et Mikkelson and his wife Marianne Brandi.  In full disclosure I’d never heard of them, but if their clothing and accessories line are like they’re home, I’m sure I’d be a fan.  The home is adorned in sleek blacks and pure whites, along with natural textures and elements to reflect the beautiful island they live on.
I collected these images from two different stories, which is why the photos look different and the rooms are sometimes styled differently.

What do you think of the ladder as book display?

I really like the geometric black and white rugs.  They work in any and every room in the home.

The gallery wall helps make the space more inviting.

    The ceiling is amazing.

I love the black and white bedding too, and the nightstands.

Love the bathroom! It’s what drew me to the house.  That antique chest contrasting with the white tile is amazing.

    So jealous.

    amazing.

    This home is gorgeous!

What do you think?  Who wants to chip in with me and buy a home on St. Bart’s???

  • The Everygirl Alaina Kaczmarski’s Chicago Apartment Tour

A feminine pretty apartment with beautiful architectural details

I’m a sucker for a girly home that uses pastels and whites and uses cosmetics as decor.  With hubby and a baby boy though, it’s just not in the cards.  I get my fix from perusing house tours like this one below from the co-founder and editor of The Everygirl and blogger behind Live Creating Yourself- now Alaina Kaczamarski.

I’m starting with the home office area because that is my favorite. The lacquered parsons desk, ikea shelves, and impactful arc lamp all make for a beautiful place to be productive.

I believe Alaina has since moved, but she lived in this apartment with a roommate and two pups.  Lots of natural light, an outdoor space, and a separate space for a home office are what made Alaina choose this rental.

The living room is in peaceful gray with accents of black and white to add drama.  I’m loving all the decorative pillows.

The gallery wall serves as a great focal point and helps integrate the TV into the space.

The architectural details which include moulding and built-in bookcases are indeed beautiful. The bentwood chairs and Saarinen style table make for a pretty pair.

Even the kitchen stays in theme with Alaina’s favorite colors, mint, pink, gray, and gold.

Her favorite room is her pitch black bedroom.  What do you think?

  • Crisp and bright rooms

    Crisp and bright rooms

We had a bit of a heatwave here in Maryland this week so I thought a little cool off was in order.  The rooms below are perfect for hot summer days because they are light and airy, just like a crisp cotton sun dress!

    Love the spotty drapes.

I always have my eye out for a large floor mirror for a good price.  A mirror like this can throw enough light around a room it’s like having another window.

Sometimes greenery can be just as pretty (and unexpected) as flowers.

    Crushing on that coffee table!!

Thanks to Adore Home Magazine for giving us a tour of fashion illustrator Megan Hess’s very chic home! If you love all things Coco or Audrey, than you’ll love this space.

I try color coding my clothes, but it never lasts.

Love how her studio is white and bright but still elegant.

Too girly and glam for you, or would you take it??

  • Ultra luxe, super glamorous spaces

    Ultra luxe, super glamorous spaces

These rooms are truly some of the most luxe, glamorous spaces I’ve seen.  If you are a girly-girl, love the feeling of satin and velvet on your skin, and don’t shy away from drama – these will definitely speak to you!

Amazing mirror, fab wallpaper.  A mix of textures keeps monochrome interiors from feeling flat.

White, black, and shiny surfaces (check out the ceiling!) is instant drama

    …even the rug has sparkles…

While I appreciate the beauty of this dining room, I couldn’t live life without pets and children 🙂

    Love the floor!

Could you live in these spaces?  What ideas could you take from them and incorporate in your living space?

Another Nordic beauty…a house tour that inspires…

You know my feelings on Nordic interiors…they can’t really do wrong… This home, which belongs to Nina, founder of Stylizmo, only solidifies my opinion even more. It was featured in the most recent issue of Llamas Valley

Those butterfly prints are so pretty…

I love all the little vignettes to be found around this home…

Now I want an espresso…and that beautiful china…

Palette repurposed as a headboard… do you like or too rough for you?

Not to be a hater…but it’s a little refreshing not to see “keep calm…”

House Tour: The golden age of Hollywood, a glamor girl’s dream…

Home feeling a little lackluster? This space by Sarah Gilbane should inspire some ideas for adding a little glam back in your home…

The glossy stripes on the wall add glitz, while the grasscloth on the ceiling warm the space up a bit…

The pendants are feminine, but not too girly

Some garden stools add a bit of Chinoiserie to the more restrained library space.

The bedroom’s color palette is what really makes the room traditional Hollywood glam.  Pink, black, and white…what’s more starlett than that?

Is this space too feminine and glamorous for you, or would you be right at home here? via Tradhome Mag

House tour: A lovely Swedish home in black and white…

This home is so pretty – I definitely have some home envy going on. I could never be so disciplined though, as to only buy things in black and white. I’m bad about that – If I like it, it could serve a purpose, and I can afford it, I buy it. I worry about it fitting in (and sometimes not) later.

    I’m digging the birch(?) branch!

How about you?  Are you good at sticking to a color palette in your home or do you stray?
