  • A little texture can go a long way!

A little texture can go a long way!

You may hear designers talk about texture as one aspect that really makes or breaks a room. Visual texture, when done correctly, can transform a simple room into a unique eye catching space.
The brick walls, with wood floors, a comfy couch, and a woven rug all give you different textures that combined well together. Each one touches your senses in a different way but when brought together can create a truly unique feel.
Mixing wood, tile, and granite really makes this room feel that nostalgic sense of home with a modern twist of luxury.
There’s something so unique about wood grain and mixing that with painted cabinets, glass, and stone really makes each item stand out!
Texture doesn’t always have to come from major home upgrades. It can be as simple as adding wood to an already great cabinet and pairing it with wicker baskets and a fun rug.

    Outdoor Storage Solutions

It’s amazing how many outdoor things you accumulate as a home owner. It’s start slowly, just a few things you need in order to maintain the outdoors, then there’s outdoor entertainment, seating, cleaning, gardening, and before you know it you own a 10×10 tent just in case!
Find outdoor space you never thought you had with HINDO outdoor storage family. Durable enough to handle even the rainiest summer, HINDO lets you store anything from flower pots to gardening tools while keeping your outdoors looking beautiful.

What happens when you have all these items and no where to put them? You get creative.
My favorite way to get creative with storage is to have duel purpose items. Like a side table that duels as a storage bin!
If you're tired of replacing expensive patio furniture year after year, consider these built-in outdoor seating solutions. These creative benches help define the borders of outdoor rooms and create comfortable seating.

  • Decorating small spaces doesn’t have to be hard!

Decorating small spaces doesn’t have to be hard!

Small spaces require a different way of thinking but it doesn’t have to be difficult.
Living in a small space? Here are 11 great ways to maximize and decorate tiny spaces.
Make items have duel purposes! Storage and seating? Looks like a win win to me!
Make it cozy. There’s something about a comfortable space that makes you love it no matter the size.
Utilize every nook and cranny! A closet might be better used as an office instead of storage space.
intentional use of limited space is the core of small space design.
Your decor can be functional! Just because it’s something that you use daily, doesn’t mean it can be pretty and on a shelf for all to see.
Get creative with the square footage you do have. Make items that can be put away, hidden, or stored but easily accessed.

  • Tips for working from home!

A lot of people ask me how I handle working from home. As you can imagine, it can be very distracting if you aren’t prepared for it! With house chores looking right at you, all your favorite things to do during your down time within eye sight, and no one checking on you to see what you’ve gotten done, it can be a bit overwhelming. Here’s a few tricks I use to stay on track:

    1. Have a dedicated work space.

Even if you are sharing the room with another space, dedicate a wall or a section of it to your work space. You need to have a defined area so when you “step into it” you can be in the work mode and not “see” all the distractions around you.

    2. Get dressed and create a morning routine!

You don’t have to be in fashion, in style, or dressed to the T, but taking a shower and getting out of your jamies can seriously motivating! Also sticking with a morning routine can make you feel ready and prepared for the day.
    3. Set dedicated work hours, and give yourself a real lunch break!

Working off hours can really hurt your body and your routine of working. Overworking can also wear you down and make you less effective at what you are actually doing. Set dedicated work hours and be sure to give yourself a break, just like you would at any out of home job!
    4. Use those extra hours wisely!

If you are like me, clutter and unorganized mess can be seriously distracting. Use the time you’d be commuting during an out of home job to do the cleaning around the house! Get everything set so the next morning is dedicated to your routine and work load.
    5. Have fun with your office space!

Decorate it nicely, keep it organized, and have fun with it! After all, you will be spending most of your time at home here. Why not love it?
  • Book Review: The new book from Decor8’s Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick

Book Review: The new book from Decor8’s Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick

I’m sure many of you here have heard of Decor8, but have you heard that it’s creator, Holly Becker, along with Joanna Copestick – have come out with a book?!  Well, the book, titled “Decorate, 1000 Professional Ideas for Every Room in Your Home” does not disappoint.

The book definitely focuses on ideas instead of achieving a specific look/or style – which I prefer anyway because it means there is a little something for everyone. It does tend to feature interiors with more of a Scandinavian chic aesthetic though, so if that’s your style – it’s an added bonus.

adore the color scheme here – the yellow, light blues, and gray is perfect.

The book also features tasty tidbits of interior design genius from Nate Berkus, Jonathon Adler, Amy Butler, and Maxwell Gillingham Ryan.

‘ “Start thinking about how you live, then plan a layout of rooms and furniture to suit your lifestyle before you get on the details about what style to follow” – Rita Konig, writer/interior designer” ‘

The book also features some helpful arrangements for different types of floor plans.

All in all, Decorate definitely has something for everyone and anyone. You can purchase it on here on Amazon. If you pick it up or already own it please share what you think!
