I guess it’s pretty common when going through a remodel that other projects that weren’t a part of the original plan creep in. One such project in my case is a backsplash. Currently our kitchen is painted in a vanilla colored flat paint, which makes cleaning above the stove a nightmare. Are there any good reasons not to have a backsplash?
This is pretty close to my dream kitchen.
Love these cabinets too.

Soft blue herringbone. Yes please!!

This blue is a nice contrast to the white.
Do you have a backsplash that you love? Want one?
Love the spotty drapes.
I always have my eye out for a large floor mirror for a good price. A mirror like this can throw enough light around a room it’s like having another window.
Sometimes greenery can be just as pretty (and unexpected) as flowers.
Crushing on that coffee table!!

Sometimes the simplicity of subway tiles really makes me happy. They are simple, can be dressed up or dressed down, and always budget friendly. They are also a classic… but I’m interested to see what you think about them! Would you put subway tiles in your home?
A room in neutrals can be a beautiful, restful thing. Done wrong and your left with an overly vanilla and drab eyesore.
Here are neutrals that have it right:
The black drapery hardware, iron canopy bed, and thick black frame all add just enough contrast to create some depth in the space.
Leopard or other animal patterns are a way to do neutral but still add a lot of interest.
Mixing textures is another surefire way to add dimension to a space that has a lot of color in the same value.
Another example of mixing texture – the sisal, metal console table, iron lamp, and wood chests. If all of these pieces were in wood, you can imagine how the space might look more drab.

So, tomorrow morning I am flying back to the states after living/working in Spain for the last 4 months, so I won’t be posting — have a great weekend!
